New York – Part 1

Grand Central Station

Financial District - View from the ferry

On Monday I arrived at Newark Liberty Airport and took the Express Bus to Grand Central Station in Manhattan. From there I was able to get to my Hostel in Queens by the New York Metro.
After my first hour in New York I knew, I’m going to love the city. So many people, so many cultures and so much to see.
Time Square
Ellis Island - Statue of liberty
Unites Nations - Headquater
First I did a Sightseeing Bus tour at daytime and one at night time. Good thing to do at night, is visiting the Top of the Rocks. You get magnificent views from the rooftop of Rockefeller Center. I’ve also been on the “Best of NYC” Circleline Cruise which goes all the way around Manhattan Island. At this tour I caught an annoying sunburn, which you can see in all the pictures where my head is all read.

On my third day I did some walking tours - one about Wall Street and the Financial District and another one about the Tribute Center and 9/11 Memorial. One of the 2 tour guides lost her brother and the other guide lost her husband on September 11th. They both told us how they experienced 9/11 and how they found out that they lost their relatives. It was so touching that one girl of the group started crying at the tour. Afterwards I needed something else. So I did a Brooklyn tour and later on I visited the Empire State Building.
